MCN UK, has done a shoot-out on the Isle of Man, between the K1200S, Kawasaki ZX12R and Suzuki Hayabusa. BMW K1200S wins again. Click on the image to enlarge.


Motociclismo, a Spanish monthly magazine has done a shoot-out between: A pre-production K1200S, Yamaha´s FRJ 1300, Kawasaki´s ZZR 1200, Suzuki´s Hayabusa and the Honda CBR 1000RR (Fireblade) on the Isle of Man. BMW received the highest ratings of 8.2 and is considered superior to the rest in sport as well as comfort. That's very impressive. Click on the image for a larger version.


Cycle World, the premier US motorcycling magazine officially broke the news on the new K1200S in their July '04 issue (see image below). Motorrad magazine of Germany unofficially provided a wealth of spy images and information on the K1200S back in October 2003. On this page I will be focusing mostly on premier Press information about this new German SuperBike.

July 21, 04. MCN of UK has released its real world road test of the K1200S. "It's got 180mph, 165bhp, handles better than a Hayabusa, and we love it!"

A very rare appearance for a BMW. K1200S in the Sport Rider magazine.

It compares BMW's HP at the crank with Japanese competition at the rear wheel. It also goes on to compare BMW's dry weight against the Japanese competition's wet weight. Careless? Very, but a good read regardless.


Motorrad Magazine of Germany, October 2003: This is the famous article that broke the news about the new BMW K bike, code named K40. Due to a security britch at BMW, actual images and info about this secretive project leaked out to the Motorrad about 6 months earlier than planned.
